Introduction These revised NSW Government Workplace Guidelines update the guidelines issued in July 1999. The new guidelines will be maintained as an interactive document on the Internet. These guidelines are not intended to provide definitive workplace solutions. Rather they are meant to make users aware of the relevant policies, legislation and other issues to be considered in workplace design. They also encourage users to consider alternative workplace solutions that might be appropriate for the way they work. The guidelines are presented in the following sections: 1. Guidelines - provides users with relevant Government policy, legislation and direction as they relate to workplace design. 2. Tools - provides a number of interactive tools to assist users in determining workplace design solutions. They are intended to provide assistance to users at all levels of an organisation:
3. Workplace Directions - presents some of the today's key ideas and trends associated with office planning. This section provides a comprehensive list of source material together with examples and case studies of 'best thinking' from leading industry practitioners, advocates and educational authorities. It provides an overview for all those interested in understanding more about the opportunities provided by a new workplace. The FAQ section provides answers to some of the most commonly asked questions related to workplace design. 4. Building/Fitout Appraisal - summarises general 'best thinking' associated with Ecologically Sustainable Design (ESD) and building services. This section is not intended to be a technical manual but rather it is to help users become aware of the various considerations in relation to ESD and building services. |
