Introduction and How to Use the 'Tools'

This Section provides a number of interactive tools, which can assist with providing broad answers to fundamental office planning issues.

Five key tools are provided:

Which workplace model should we use?

Utilising a straightforward set of 12 questions, this tool provides a customisable response identifying the generic form of workplace model that an agency might choose to consider. Whilst this tool, referred to as the Triple Journey® is not intended to provide the definitive answer, it does provide a simple basis for comparison between different styles of workplace and an understanding of the organisational and business factors which impact on their selection.

How much space do we need?

This tool provides a simple space budget calculation spreadsheet which can be downloaded and can form the "first pass" analysis of total area requirements.

Should we consider working differently?

Some fundamental issues relating to Alternative Ways of Working (AWS) or "New Officing" concepts and a simple checklist which can identify when they might be considered.

Which building should we select?

Generic building services, Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) and Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance checklists which enable the comparison of several buildings to identify the best performing ones.

FAQ's

A list of the main issues, which concern staff as identified by agencies. A good beginning point for any new project or a handy place to gather a quick snapshot of the frequently raised issues in respect to workplace design. These tools may not necessarily provide you with all the answers you require but they do provide some guidance to help you address the more fundamental issues. You may well use others, which may provide a more thorough and more useful result for your current requirements. If so, we encourage you to use them.
