Workplace Directions

Workplace Directions provides some interesting ideas and "food for thought". The articles and reference sites included here are not intended to be definitive or prescriptive. They are meant to introduce alternate points of view for those interested in the workplace discussion or those who may gain from exposure to how others are practicing.

It is hoped that you find these papers useful and through encouraging others to read them, that they will assist you expand peoples' thinking about accommodation and encourage them to explore options beyond their conventional office style.

Workplace Directions is structured in the following way:

Brief history of office planning - puts contemporary office design into the context of what we can learn from the past 100 years.

Future trends in office accommodation - picks up on the four themes introduced in the opening sequence of these guidelines and provides papers from industry dealing with each theme:

  • 'Evolving attitudes' - changing business attitudes and attitudes to work.
  • 'Moving with IT' - latest trends in IT.
  • 'Changing the way you work' - innovative new ideas in planning the workplace.
  • 'Adapting the workplace' - issues relating to changing real estate.

Workplace points of view - presents papers and ideas about some relevant accommodation-related issues. These provide various point of view to give you some background information on the following topics:
